Abstract:

Background: Multiple Sclerosis is the most prevalent disease of the central nerve system. This disease affects different aspects of patient’s life. Multiple Sclerosis has negative effects on physical and mental health. Cytokines play an important role in the pathogenesis of Multiple Sclerosis and are major targets of therapeutic interventions. Aim: To investigate the effects of aquatic aerobic exercise on IL-6 and IL-10 in men with Multiple Sclerosis. Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 30 patients with MS were randomly divided into two control and experimental groups. For experimental group, exercise program was applied for 8 weeks, 3 sessions per week with intensity of 50-60% of maximum heartbeat. IL-6 and IL-10 were analyzed before and after exercises. Analyzing data was done by SPSS ver. 18, and 0.05 significant level of independent T examination. Results: Results indicated that there was significant difference between the two groups in IL-6 (P

IL-6, IL-10 and IL-17 Gene Polymorphisms in Iranian Women with Recurrent Miscarriage

Background: Pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines and polymorphisms of their genes have been described to be involved in the pathogenesis of recurrent miscarriage (RM). Objective: To investigate the association between RM and five polymorphisms of cytokine genes, interleukin 10 (IL-10), (-592 A/C, -819 C/T, -1082 A/G), IL-6 (-174 C/G) and IL-17 (-197 G/A) in Iranian women. Method: Po...

Increased IL-17A but Decreased IL-27 Serum Levels in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis

Background: Effector CD4+ T cell subsets play an important role in Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Interleukin-27 (IL-27) suppresses Th (Th1, Th2 and Th17) cells and dampens autoimmunity and tissue inflammation by promoting the generation of Type 1 regulatory T cells (Tr1). Objective: To identify the relative levels of IL-27 and IL-17A in MS disease. Method: In a case-control study, venous blood was c...

Investigation of genetic variation of IL-4 receptor rs1801275 in patients with multiple sclerosis in Isfahan

Aim and Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease that attacks myelinated axons in the central nervous system (CNS) resulting in destroying the myelin and the axon. According to high prevalence of disease in Iran, it needs to study different aspects of disease including factors influencing the pathogenesis and the other risk factors. Various type of genetic varia...

Serum Levels of IL-10 and IL-22 Cytokines in Patients with Psoriasis

Background: As a chronic inflammatory condition, psoriasis results from an interaction between genetic and immunologic factors in a predisposing environment. In spite of compelling evidence for the role of T cells and cytokines in psoriasis, interleukin (IL)- 10 and IL-22 have not been sufficiently investigated. Objective: To assess the serum levels of IL-10 and IL-22 in patients with psori...

Evaluation of IL-17 and IL-10 Production in Infectious Mononucleosis in EBV Patients

Epstein–Barr virus is primarily the cause of acute infectious mononucleosis and can also cause lymphoma and autoimmune diseases. Th17 cells, which are a unique subset of ThCD4+ cells, direct the infection toward inflammation through production of inflammatory cytokine IL-17. In contrast, Treg Foxp3 cells inhibit inflammation through secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10, leading to chro...
